Hadong Residents Extract Bone-friendly Sap from Painted Maple Tree

HADONG, Feb. 4 (Korea Bizwire)According to Hadong County in South Gyeongsang Province on Saturday, locals have started extracting sap from painted maple trees.

The extraction of sap can be done in early February to mid-March, when the temperature difference between day and night reaches 11 to 13 degrees.

In Hadong County, 320 farming residents received permits to extract the sap.

A hole is made by drilling into the tree around 45 centimeters to 1 meter above the ground. Then a hose in inserted into the hole to collect the sap.

The painted maple tree is also called as ‘Gollisu’ as it is good for bones.

The sap from the tree contains various minerals such as magnesium, calcium, and sucrose which are effective in treating arthritis, constipation, gastrointestinal disease, neuralgia, and eczema, and also act as a diuretic.

Furthermore, the sap will not cause stomachaches even when taken in large quantities as it has a sweet taste.

In addition, it is effective in preventing adult diseases by removing waste from internal organs and it is also effective for treating hangovers.

It is also known to be effective in treating kidney disease and lung disease, and for skin care.
