SEOUL, Dec. 9 (Korea Bizwire) – The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy has established the Robot Occupation Innovation Center aimed at cultivating robot-specialized talent.
The ministry on Thursday held an opening ceremony for the center at the Gumi Electronics & Information Technology Research Institute in the southeastern city of Gumi.
The center is the nation’s largest robot-specialized occupational training center, for which the government has committed to investing a total of 29.5 billion won over a five-year period starting in 2020.
The center aims to cultivate 1,840 operators specializing in robot control, system operations, and repair and maintenance, and 261 coordinators specializing in the planning and design of robot-based production lines tailored to satisfy the demand of manufacturing sites by 2024.
The training programs include industrial robots, collaboration robots, mobile robots and process design simulation software.
