SEOUL, Jan.5 (Korea Bizwire) – The Korean Webtoon service platform Lezhin Comics has revealed the details of its first foray into the American market.
Lezhin Entertainment, which manages Lezhin Comics, announced that it started providing services in English on its website as part of its initial efforts to make inroads in the U.S. market.
A total of 12 webtoons written by Korean writers are currently being offered in English. Lezhin introduced the pieces in various genres, such as fantasy, mystery, comedy, action and romance.
Access to most of the comics is possible using a credit card for payment.
Lezhin Entertainment plans to establish an American corporate body by next month, and increase the number of comics provided in English to 40 in a bid to push into the U.S. market.
In July 2015, Lezhin Entertainment started to provide its services in Japanese.
Company officials commented that they hope to serve as a channel to export webtoons abroad, but at the same time grow to be a popular platform for webtoons in the U.S. as well.
