SEOUL, Dec. 11 (Korea Bizwire)LG Electronics has introduced six new products in its “LG Comfort Kit” lineup, enhancing accessibility for individuals with disabilities and senior citizens. The Comfort Kit, first launched in March this year, is a pioneering effort in the appliance industry, designed to make home appliances more user-friendly for people of all abilities and ages.

The latest additions address specific challenges identified through customer feedback and usability studies. For example, the Induction Silicone Pad and Water Purifier Silicone Cover feature braille markings and tactile holes to aid visually impaired users in operating touch controls.

The Robot Vacuum Color Sheet, made in bright red, improves the visibility of robotic vacuums, while the Refrigerator Rotating Shelf allows easier access to items stored deep inside refrigerators. The Tiun Mini Easy Handle simplifies handling of seed kits for users with limited hand mobility.

LG conducted in-home visits to analyze how customers interact with existing Comfort Kit products, using the insights to refine its designs. To encourage adoption, LG is offering a free trial of the new products to a broader audience.

The expanded lineup brings the total number of Comfort Kit offerings to 13. LG plans to further grow the range, continually identifying and addressing accessibility challenges in home appliances.

Ryu Jae-cheol, head of LG’s Home Appliance & Air Solution division, emphasized the company’s commitment to inclusivity, stating, “We will continue to respect diversity and launch products that make life more convenient for all our customers.”

Meanwhile, job openings reported through the government’s Worknet portal fell by 30.8% to 165,000, the lowest for November since 2009, signaling weaker demand for labor.

Chun Kyung-ki, an official from the Ministry of Employment, attributed the construction sector’s challenges to structural issues, adding that external factors like export and domestic market slowdowns are contributing to a subdued labor environment.

He noted that while political uncertainty, such as the current impeachment proceedings, could potentially impact the job market, its effects would only be evident in hindsight.
