SEOUL, Jan. 8 (Korea Bizwire) — Parking a car at a standard electric vehicle (EV) charging station for more than 12 hours will now result in a fine.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that a new bill will be implemented to prevent cars from blocking other drivers from charging their EVs.
Previously, parking a car at a quick charging station for more than two hours was subject to a fine of 100,000 won (US$91).
With the implementation of the new bill, parking at standard EV charging stations for an extended period of time will also be subject to a fine.
As an exception, the new bill doesn’t apply to standard EV charging stations set up at apartment complexes and other residential facilities, since many of them are used primarily at night.
