SEOUL, Aug. 15 (Korea Bizwire) — POSCO Engineering & Construction Co., the construction arm of South Korea’s leading steelmaker, POSCO, has announced the development of a biophilic parking lot designed to bring sunlight and plant life to the underground floors below an apartment complex.
The parking lot’s first basement floor is designed to bring in as much sunlight and fresh air as possible to help trees and flowers grow.
The second basement floor features partial-sun plants and shade plants decorated with garden stones to closely imitate a natural garden.
The Korea National Arboretum will select plant species fit for the biophilic parking lot, as well as transfer know-how on gardening and landscaping based on a recently concluded agreement.
Each parking space will come with a paid charging stand for electric vehicles. A smart video surveillance system will also be introduced to detect sparks or suspicious activities to ensure a safe parking environment.
