SEOUL, Feb. 17 (Korea Bizwire) — The first group of members of the Korea Disaster Relief Team (KDRT) is returning to safety after an extensive search and rescue mission at the site of the earthquake in Turkey.
To thank them for their efforts, local residents have delivered gestures of appreciation.
Local Turkish residents visited the KDRT camp at the earthquake site to meet with the rescue team and wrote letters of appreciation on the camp tent, which the team decided to donate.
One of the residents wrote “Thank you, brother” in Korean, honoring the tradition of Korea and Turkey addressing each other as “brother nations” ever since Turkish troops were sent to fight for South the 1950-53 Korean War.
Some wrote “brother nation” in Korean, and wrote “Korea and Turkey, the brother nations” in Turkish.
In front of another tent was raised a white paper sign that said “Thank you for coming to help dear Korean friends.”
