SEOUL, Jan. 8 (Korea Bizwire) – Starting in June, fire-fighting vehicles around the country will be facing a far easier path to their destination due to changes to the Firefighting Services Act.
Going into effect June 27, vehicles that are causing an obstruction can be removed by fire departments, and furthermore, the emergency services will not be held responsible for any damages incurred to the displaced vehicles.
Clearing out illegally parked cars will likewise be permitted when deemed necessary without fear of repercussions.
A stroll through the internet landscape on January 8 revealed a public ecstatic about the pending changes.
One individual said, “Though it is somewhat late, this is something that is absolutely necessary,” while another agreed, saying, “Why was this law passed only now?” Rather than wait for June, one commenter wrote, “Instead of waiting until June, implement this law immediately.”
In a lengthier post, one person wrote, “It’s a wise decision. Under no circumstances should those that get in the way of a fire truck on its way to put out a fire be compensated for damages. Pushing these cars aside on the road is the best way to deal with these types of situations and is also a method for decisively tackling the problem of illegally parked cars.”
