SEOUL, Nov. 10 (Korea Bizwire)A cartoon and augmented reality (AR)-based exhibition will be held to commemorate the lives of Korean sex slave victims taken by the Japanese military.

To be held jointly by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and Korea Manhwa Contents Agency, the exhibition will run from November 11 to March 28, introducing four themes including testimony, truth, history, and records.

For the first section, ‘testimony alive,’ visitors will be able to listen to the actual testimony given by Lee Ok-seon, one of the sex slave victims.

By using animations created by Keum Suk Gendry-Kim and her Korean ink and brush, the exhibition offers an experience in which visitors can engage with the actual life of the victim.

In the second section ‘truth drawn by cartoon,’ various artworks represent how the victims were taken away by the Japanese military, and the pain and courage that the victims had to endure and hold on to.

The third section, ‘undeniable history,’ offers an overall introduction to the issue of Japanese sex slaves with various photos and videos.

The final section, ‘our record,’ introduces live recordings of interviews with the late Chung Seo-woon, another sex slave victim, and an animation with actual voices by Japanese soldiers during the Japanese colonization of the Korean peninsula.

A special zone has also been set up to show how much time is left for the remaining sex slave survivors using photos and drawings, to deliver the message that historical truth never ends or disappears.
