SEOUL, June 17 (Korea Bizwire) – Two more women filed complaints Friday claiming that they were sexually assaulted by Park Yoo-chun, a member of Korean idol group JYJ. But it didn’t take four victims for Park’s fans to finally turn their backs on someone they had supported and cherished even through Park’s more difficult years.
The 30-year-old celebrity was first accused of rape with a complaint filed by a woman in her 20s on June 10. The charges were dropped earlier this week after the woman admitted that the sex was consensual. However, another supposed victim filed a complaint against Park on June 16, claiming that she was also sexually assaulted by the singer. Both incidents occurred in the bathroom of an adult entertainment bar in Gangnam.
Following the two accusations, and shortly before the news of two additional alleged victims hit the airwaves Friday, JYJ’s fan club, DC JYJ Gallery, posted an official statement withdrawing all support for Park Yoo-chun. DC JYJ Gallery has supported the three-men boyband since 2009, when the three members filed a lawsuit against their former talent agency, SM Entertainment.
The statement said that the community will only support the two other members of the group (Kim Jae-joong, Kim Jun-su), and boycott all activities and content related to Park Yoo-chun. The fans also expressed their deep disappointment and rage towards the singer, who trampled on 13 years of his fans’ trust and support.
Meanwhile, Gangnam District Police revealed Friday that a woman who claimed that she was also raped by Park two years ago submitted a complaint. She maintained that she met the singer in June 2014 at a bar in Gangnam. The two later moved to Park’s home, where she was sexually assaulted.
Both Park and his entertainment company, C-JeS Entertainment, apologized for the scandal but denied all allegations. Park also plans to take legal action against the charges, citing false accusation.
