SEOUL, May 16 (Korea Bizwire) – A luxury apartment complex in Seoul’s affluent Banpo-dong neighborhood has garnered attention for an unconventional service: facilitating marriages among its single residents.
According to real estate industry sources, an online community called Raemian One Bailey Marriage Information Group is actively operating within the Raemian One Bailey apartment complex.
The group, formed as a sub-community on the complex’s residents’ online forum, hosts group chats and is open to residents, their children, and other family members. Membership fees are 100,000 won to join and 300,000 won annually.
The group arranges meetings and dating opportunities between members, either through informal gatherings or by matching profiles submitted in application forms. In April, the group held a regular meetup where new members and their children mingled.
Future plans include hosting events specifically for singles of marriageable age among the residents.
On May 18, a gathering for unmarried resident members is scheduled, featuring a dinner banquet on the nearby Sebitseom Island, followed by a wine party.
Attendees will have opportunities for brief self-introductions and business card exchanges.
The Raemian One Bailey complex, comprising 2,990 residential units, was redeveloped by Samsung C&T Corporation from the former Sinbanpo 3rd District and Gyeongnam sites.
Its notoriety extended to the retail sector when a liquor store in the complex partnered with a local craft brewery to launch a limited-edition Raemian One Bailey Beer, selling each can for 4,500 won and prompting a shortage due to high demand.
Meanwhile, according to the Korea Real Estate Board’s application system, bids for one canceled unit (84 square meters) at Raemian One Bailey open on May 20 for first-round applicants from the capital area (May 21 for other regions), with second-round bids on May 22 (same date for all regions).
The listed price is 1.96 billion won, with the remaining balance of 1.76 billion won won due on July 26.
Data from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport’s real estate transaction disclosure system reveals that on April 21, a 32nd-floor unit of the same size (84 square meters) at Raemian One Bailey sold for 4.25 billion won.
Considering the newly available unit is a canceled subscription, winning applicants could potentially net a profit of nearly 2 billion won compared to current market rates upon resale.
