SEOUL, June 7 (Korea Bizwire) – Recognized for its supremacy in quality management in Russian operation, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Russia (HMMR) has won the Quality Award from the Russia Federation Government.
Hyundai Motor Company has announced that HMMR, its manufacturing unit located in Russia which specializes in the production of popular automotive models in Russia, has been awarded the grand prize for large companies categories — being defined as an entity with more than 1,000 employees — in the Quality Award of the Russia Federation Government on June 5 (local time).
The award ceremony for the award was attended by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, as well as ministers of other related ministries.
Not only was Hyundai Motor the first foreign company ever to win the grand prize, but also a relatively fast one at that considering other awardees have won the award after running their business at least for seven years on average.
HMMR is located in St. Petersburg and focuses on car models suitable for the Russian market like “Solaris” and “Rio.” The Solaris manufactured at HMMR is a bestseller among small cars by foreign car makers with a 14.8 percent market share. The Solaris has been named as the “Car of the Year” for three consecutive years since 2012.
Hyundai Motor is anticipating positive effects of the award that it will raise brand awareness in Russia and other Eastern European countries which may eventually boost the sales in those regions.
