SEOUL, March 29 (Korea Bizwire) — The Ministry of Justice announced on Tuesday that it will change the design of registration cards issued to long stay foreigners as part of efforts to make it easier for them to identify themselves.
The photos on foreign registration cards will be changed from black and white to color, with their size enlarged compared to the current version.
The position of the photo will be changed from the current left to right and the gender indication in the registration number will be removed. A QR code will be added to make it easier to check identity information.
Since existing cards remain valid until re-issuance, it won’t be necessary to apply for a new card. However, anyone who wants to receive a new card needs to return their existing one and pay a 30,000 won (US$23.08) fee.
