SEOUL, June 3 (Korea Bizwire)Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO), South Korea’s state-run utility, said Wednesday that it will launch a new renewable energy transaction service through its energy marketplace EN:TER.

The new renewable energy transaction service consists of the ‘My Power Plant Service’ and the ‘Green Premium Bidding Service.’

The My Power Plant Service is designed to serve power generators with less than 1-megawatt capacity and non-utility generation clients who sign power purchase agreements (PPAs) with KEPCO.

The service enables such clients to check PPA volume and payment, while keeping them updated with the latest transaction prices of new renewable energy and the current state of the nationwide new renewable energy power system.

The Green Premium Bidding Service is designed to allow KEPCO customers to participate in the green premium system through bidding.

Green premium refers to consumers paying KEPCO a price higher than the normal electric rates to help the adoption of green value.

KEPCO provides such customers with confirmation documents on the use of renewable energy.

The documents can be used as a tool to implement the RE100, or Renewable Energy 100 percent, initiative, which centers on utilizing only environmentally friendly sources for all production.
