SEOUL, Apr. 13 (Korea Bizwire)LG Electronics Inc. said Friday it has joined forces with Italy-based furniture firm Natuzzi Group to jointly develop a smart home package boasting Internet-of-Things (IoT) technology.

Under the arrangement, LG and Natuzzi will showcase smart home solutions at the Milano Design Week slated for later this month, including jointly developed home appliances and furniture.

The South Korean company said a visitor can sit on a piece of Nattuzi furniture and tell it to turn on the TV. It will then activate the LG Signature OLED TV while the sofa and light are adjusted for the best viewing experience.

LG Electronics said the two companies will continue their partnership by conducting joint research on the IoT and rolling out marketing programs.

Natuzzi said it is seeking to develop a new sofa that is capable of communicating with electronics in the living room and added that LG Electronics is the best partner with which to establish an IoT environment at home utilizing furniture.

“Home appliances and furniture are partners in everyday life,” LG Electronics said. It claimed the two companies will continue to cooperate to tap deeper into the smart home industry.
