SEOUL, Aug. 20 (Korea Bizwire) — The Korea Naval Academy has changed its official policy to allow first-year cadets to engage in relationships.
The academy announced Thursday that the revised code of conduct will take effect in September at the start of the second semester.
The academy earlier banned first-year cadets from engaging in relationships with the intent to focus on adjusting to the school environment.
The academy punished some 40 cadets late last year who turned themselves in for engaging in a relationship.
The National Human Rights Commission of Korea ruled that the practice infringed upon the cadets’ right to happiness and privacy, advising the academy to revise the code of conduct.
