JEJU, March 17 (Korea Bizwire) — The domestic arrival hall at Jeju International Airport garnered attention after the arrival of some unusual passengers on Thursday.
The 33 passengers who came along with 18 pet dogs arrived on the island on a chartered plane, which was part of the Jeju Island Private Jet Plane for Passengers Accompanying Pets travel package provided by the Korea Tourism Organization.
Each passenger can bring one pet (below 10 kilograms including the pet and the cage), and they can bring the pet in the cabin next to their seat, rather than sending the pet to the cargo hold.
The first 50 seats, each costing 390,000 won (US$299), sold out only five days after they were first released in March. The seats released in April cost as much as 500,000 won each.
Nonetheless, they also sold out rapidly.
For safety, the pets were provided with exclusive sheets and safety hooks.
The travelers and their pets will tour various pet cafés, beaches and parks on the island for the next three days.
The pet-friendly chartered flight tour to Jeju Island will operate 10 times every month until the end of the year.
