SEOUL, July 26 (Korea Bizwire) — The number of days South Korean elementary schools were shut down last year due to the coronavirus exceeded the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) average.
In a study of reports published by the OECD, UNESCO, UNICEF and the World Bank, the Korean Educational Developmental Institute said that South Korean elementary schools shut down for 59 days last year, surpassing the OECD average of 54 days.
High schools were shut down for 54 days, which was below the OECD average (61 days).
South Korea was one of the countries using a greater variety of remote means of education, including online platforms, leaflets, television and mobile phones.
South Korea was one of the 19 countries where teachers were selected as priority recipients of the COVID-19 vaccine.
