SEOUL, Jul. 24 (Korea Bizwire) — The Seoul Metropolitan Government is giving parking priority to cars that cause less environmental pollution.
The city said Tuesday that it will implement a system that gives extra points to vehicles with a grade 1 emissions score, and reduces points for vehicles with grade 5 emissions.
The points will be used to allocate and assign parking spaces to vehicles. Those driving cars with lower emissions will be given priority when parking.
The Ministry of Environment classified 23.2 million vehicles nationwide in June in categories 1 to 5 according to vehicle model year, fuel type and the level of pollutant emissions.
The city expects about 226,000 grade 1 vehicles, or about 7.3 percent of all vehicles in the city, to benefit from additional points.
