SEOUL, South Korea, Sept 02 (Korea Bizwire) – The Seoul Metropolitan Library will provide a service on its website that lists the location, telephone number, and other information of more than 100 secondhand bookstores in Seoul after an overall survey of such bookstores in all 25 city districts.
The city government of Seoul announced that it will start its ‘Finding Hidden Treasures in Secondhand Bookstores’ service from September 1 that provides information on used book stores. Basic information such as the location, telephone number, opening hours, and closed days of these stores will be offered on the Seoul Metropolitan Library’s website.
The city government will be consistently updating information to increase accuracy and include more secondhand bookstores that have been initially omitted from the list. Lee Yong-hoon, director of the Seoul Metropolitan Library, said, “Secondhand bookstores are not only a place to buy and sell used books, but an important cultural space in our society and a key indicator of the maturity of our society’s knowledge culture. The Seoul library wishes to contribute to ‘a book reading Seoul’ by promoting secondhand book culture and book publishing in general with this new service.”
