SEOUL, Feb. 28 (Korea Bizwire) — South Koreans who recently entered the Chinese city of Shanghai managed to convince local authorities to allow them to vote in the upcoming presidential election.
The Chinese government requires foreigners entering the country to quarantine at hotels and other designated locations for a minimum of two weeks to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Nine South Korean nationals currently quarantined at a hotel managed to vote at the South Korean Consulate General in Shanghai on Saturday.
They reportedly convinced local authorities to earn special leave to participate in South Korea’s presidential election.
Each wearing a hazmat suit, the nine Koreans arrived at the consulate in a designated vehicle to vote at a temporary booth set up in front of the consulate building.
