SEOUL, May 15 (Korea Bizwire) — Starbucks Coffee Korea said on Thursday that sales of packaged coffee beans and “VIA” stick-type instant coffee at Starbucks stores nationwide from January to April this year rose 26 percent and 20 percent, respectively, from the same period last year.
Among coffee beans, Espresso Roast was the most popular, accounting for 20 percent of the total, followed by Colombia and House Blend with 10 percent each.
VIA led the overall sales increase. In the VIA line of coffee, sales of Vanilla Latte and Caramel Latte rose by 35 percent and 44 percent, respectively.
By day of the week, Friday’s sales were about 10 percent higher than other weekdays.
Starbucks attributed the increase to the number of customers making and enjoying coffee themselves as they spend more time at home at the height of the coronavirus pandemic.
