SEOUL, Feb. 8 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korean machinery maker Hyosung Heavy Industries Corp. has teamed up with German chemicals group Linde to build the world’s largest liquid hydrogen plant.
The two sides recently signed a joint venture (JV) agreement to promote their liquid hydrogen operations. Under this deal, two JVs will be established – Hyosung Hydrogen Corp. and Linde Hydrogen Corp.
Linde Hydrogen will establish the world’s largest liquid hydrogen plant, with an annual production capacity of 13,000 tons, at Hyosung Group’s Yongyeon factory in Ulsan by early 2023.
The ground will be broken for the plant early this month. Around the time when the plant is completed, Hyosung Hydrogen plans to install about 120 hydrogen charging stations nationwide.
The plant, scheduled for completion in 2023, will be capable of producing 13,000 tons of liquid hydrogen per year, which is enough to supply hydrogen fuel to about 100,000 hydrogen cars for a year.
Hyosung Heavy officials said that the plant would contribute to reducing about 130,000 tons of emissions gases per year.
