SEOUL, Sept. 15 (Korea Bizwire) — The state-run Korea Gas Corp. (KOGAS) has teamed up with Germany’s Siemens Energy AG to promote overseas green hydrogen development projects.
The two parties on Tuesday signed a business agreement for the promotion of stable hydrogen business, including green hydrogen production and hydrogen power generation.
Under terms of the agreement, the two parties will closely cooperate in the entire spectrum of hydrogen business, including large-capacity green hydrogen production and supply for the domestic market, hydrogen turbine power generation, and overseas green hydrogen production and introduction.
Siemens Energy, the gas and power unit of industrial giant Siemens AG that was spun off and listed in Sept. 2020, has industry-leading capabilities in the entire spectrum of energy value chain including electricity transmission, gas power generation and grid stabilization and storage.
Starting from 2015, Siemens Energy has been engaged in proton exchange membran (PEM)-based hydrogen production through the Energiepark Mainz project that is connected with wind power generation.
There are currently three ways to make hydrogen and green hydrogen is the cleanest variety as it uses renewable energy to produce hydrogen from water.
