SEOUL, Feb. 9 (Korea Bizwire) –A recent survey revealed that 90% of software developers anticipate that generative artificial intelligence (AI) could potentially replace aspects of their jobs.
HR tech company WantedLab disclosed that an online survey conducted from February 2 to 7 among approximately 180 software developers found that 83.6% of respondents believe generative AI will substitute for some of their duties, while 8.2% foresee a complete takeover.
Only 8.2% of participants thought it impossible for their roles to be supplanted by AI.
Regarding the timeline for AI to potentially replace developers, 27.6% of the respondents predicted it would happen within 5 to 10 years.
Other expectations were between three and five years (25.3%), one to three years (21.2%), and less than one year (2.9%).
When asked about the current development capabilities of generative AI, 42.9% equated it to the level of a developer with one to three years of experience.
Other responses included three to five years of experience (30.6%), five to seven years (10.6%), entry-level (7.6%), over 10 years (4.7%), and seven to 10 years (2.4%).
