SEOUL, May 5 (Korea Bizwire) — The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) renovated the Biseulsan Mountain Park in Daegu as an “open tourist site” and held a completion ceremony on Wednesday.
An open tourist site is a tourist attraction that removes physical barriers on footpaths and is mounted with braille signs and restrooms for the disabled, being accessible by mobility vulnerable people such as those with physical disabilities, the elderly and infants.
At present, a total of 112 tourist attractions are designated as open tourist sites.
Mount Biseul is famous for its azaleas and was designated as an open tourist site last year.
The ministry and the KTO installed a dedicated deck for wheelchairs to move to the azalea habitat at the top of the mountain. In addition, it also prepared a dedicated vehicle mounted with wheelchair lifts, creating an environment where wheelchair users can climb to the top of the mountain with an altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level.
