Damyang Bamboo Festival Promises Vibrant Experiences Day and Night

DAMYANG, May 2 (Korea Bizwire) – The Damyang Bamboo Festival in South Jeolla Province is set to captivate visitors from May 11 to 15 with an array of immersive programs.

Hosted at the outdoor stage in the Juknokwon Bamboo Forest area, this visitor-driven festival invites attendees to directly experience and enjoy the festivities.

The main stage has been relocated from Chuseong Stadium to the parking lot of Jeollanam-do Provincial University, allowing visitors to savor food offerings while comfortably enjoying performances and taking leisure breaks.

Around the main stage area, over 30 food booths, including Korean beef, will be set up alongside spaces for youth entrepreneurship exhibitions, agricultural product sales, and dessert displays and sales.

To encourage visitors to extend their stay and contribute to the local economy, the festival has enhanced its nighttime offerings.

The Juknokwon Bamboo Forest will remain open until 9 p.m., with the surrounding area illuminated by wish lanterns, bulb lights, firefly lights, moving lights, a giant moon photo zone, and floating lanterns, creating a captivating night scene.

Visitors can enjoy the Juknokwon Bamboo Forest by purchasing an entrance ticket (3,000 won), which will be provided as a coupon redeemable at local stores.

The opening ceremony on May 11 at 11 a.m. will kick off with performance by Rapercussion, followed by a parade featuring a giant avatar and performers, as well as a collaborative performance with traditional Korean folk music and visitors.

Starting at 6 p.m., singers such as Seol Undo, Kim Jong-kook, and So Chan-hwee will take the stage for celebratory performances, accompanied by a drone show.

On May 12, the festival will feature the Damyang Hometown Love Trot Music Contest, Kim Kyung-ho Band, and an EDM party.

May 13 will showcase a classical vocal trio and a dazzling fire show, while May 14 will present a traditional Korean celebration for centenarians and a “Solo Escape” program.

The festival’s finale on May 15 will include the National Youth Talent Festival and closing performances by the girl group Craxy and the popular rapper songwriter duo EZUZ.
