SEOUL, Apr. 27 (Korea Bizwire) — We have reached an age when it takes only two days to restore wound healing following LASEK eye surgery. Dr. Oh Jung-woo of EOS Eye Clinic, a South Korean ophthalmologist, is unveiling the entire process of his innovative vision correction surgery called ’2DAY LASEK’ to the world.

The 2DAY LASEK procedure has many merits in addition to a speedy recovery period. First, the method can reduce the damage to the corneal epithelium by up to 40 percent compared to conventional LASEK surgeries, allowing for a much shorter recovery period. In addition, the level of damage during the surgery is mitigated, preventing LASEK side effects resulting from epithelium damage.

A series of studies conducted by Dr. Oh have been widely followed in medical circles. His research unveiled a technique to speed up damage recovery by 30 percent, and a vision recovery rate twice as fast as the typical pace, findings that were announced at the Milan Congress of the European Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) in 2012 and the London Congress of the ESCRS in 2014.

Promising research results for 2day LASEK surgery have been reported to international ophthalmology societies since 2011.

Meanwhile, the latest study from EOS Eye Clinic, highlighting ’2Day LASEK surgery’s effectiveness in improving night glare and sharpness of vision compared to traditional surgeries,’ was officially selected for announcement at the European Society of Ophthalmology 2017 Congress, which runs from June 10 to 13.

The findings are expected to be presented under the title “Analysis of wavefront data according to difference between planned optical zone & effective optical zone on Trans-PRK & LASEK using Amaris 1050RS Eximer laser.”
