JEJU, May 17 (Korea Bizwire)It was late at night on Saturday when the Emergency Operations Center received an emergency call from an automated voice.

The voice stated that it had “detected a hard fall and dialed the emergency services.”

The caller turned out to be an Apple Watch.

The watch is equipped with a collision detection feature. If it detects a car crash or any other type of collision and there is no response from the user within the next 10 seconds, it automatically dials the emergency services.

Upon receiving the emergency call, the firefighting authorities headed towards a parking lot near Iho Tewoo Beach in Jeju Island, where the reported collision had taken place.

There, they found a car with a broken front bumper.

In front of the car stood a man in his 20s. The firefighters found the man’s behavior suspicious and decided to notify the police.

After conducting tests, the police discovered that the man’s blood alcohol level exceeded 0.08 percent, which is sufficient to result in the cancellation of his driver’s license.

Consequently, the police apprehended the man on suspicion of driving under the influence.
