SEOUL, South Korea, Aug 28 (Korea Bizwire) – Yoo Jeong-bok, Minister of Security and Public Administration will depart for Myanmar on August 28 to discuss ways to strengthen ties between Korea and Myanmar regarding the ‘Saemaeul Movement.’
This visit originated from Minister Yoo’s personal interest in the export of the ‘Electronic Government’ and the ‘Saemaeul Movement,’ or the ‘new community movement,’ The two countries are expected to actively promote cooperation on this front by signing an agreement and establishing a complex center for Saemaeul Movement.
Minister Yoo will meet several high-ranking Myanmar officials during his trip including President Thein Sein to discuss the movement as well as other major bilateral issues between the two countries. On the 30th, he will visit the center for Saemaeul Movement which was recently completed after 11 months of construction.
Minister Yoo said, “Myanmar sent us rice during our hardships in the 1960s, and as their neighbor it is our duty to help them rise up once more by sharing our experience in economic development through the Saemaeul Movement. We will be looking for various effective ways for bilateral cooperation with Myanmar during this trip.”
