SEOUL, June 22 (Korea Bizwire) – As unmanned aerial vehicles or drones are being mobilized in various industrial sectors, a provincial counsel will enact an ordinance to help support the drone industry.
According to the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly on June 21, it pre-announced the “Provincial Ordinance to Grow and Support UAV (Drone) Industry in Gyeonggi.” The proposed ordinance forces the Gyeonggi governor to formulate a plan to grow the drone industry every three years, and to evaluate the results annually.
The ordinance allows the government to drive policy to raise related experts for the industry, and to offer administrative support to expand its usage base. In addition, it urged the provincial government to attract international events or foreign investments in the sector and to support its overseas expansion.
Furthermore, the ordinance allows the provincial government to set up or install centers for the promotion of the drone industry, and support related expenses for drone developers.
Park Jae-sun, a member of the provincial assembly who proposed the ordinance, said, “The drone industry is seeing eye-opening growth, usage is widespread. By making a systematic support plan with the ordinance, we need to grow the industry in our province.”
The proposed ordinance will be discussed at the province’s 300th assembly, to be held from June 7 to 14.
