SEOUL, Jan. 6 (Korea Bizwire) – The number of reservations by foreign visitors to the Hwacheon Sancheoneo (trout) Ice Festival has more than doubled compared to last year, indicating the event, which was first held in 2003, is gaining popularity internationally.
According to Hwacheon County, 522 teams comprising 14,589 individuals from overseas have so far reserved spots at the festival, up from 7,048 people in 2016.
The festival’s opening was delayed by a week due to unusually warm weather. It is set to open on January 14, instead of January 7, and will close on February 5.
Dozens of winter activities and exhibits will be featured throughout the festivities, including ice fishing and barehanded fishing, sledding, ice soccer, and hockey. For more information, visit http://www.narafestival.com.
