JINDO, April 13 (Korea Bizwire) — A world-famous sea-parting festival hosted annually by the southwestern South Korean island county of Jindo gets a futuristic upgrade this year using state-of-the-art technology.
The 43rd edition of the Jindo Miracle Sea Road Festival, described worldwide as the “Korean version of Moses’ miracle,” will be held from April 20-22, operating media art using light and video, the officials said.
Around this time of year, the seawater in Jindo mysteriously parts due to the tidal difference to open a 2.8-km-long, 40-meter-wide pathway between Jindo and Modo Islet for about one hour twice a day, allowing a huge crowd of local and foreign tourists to walk through the sea road.
The media art displays the sea road in geometrical designs using points, curves and surfaces, while embodying the dynamic circulation of water and light.
During the festival, the media art will be presented every day at 7 p.m. along a 200-meter coastal road.
The county government expects the media art to draw attention from tourists as it expresses the sea road in a unique and friendly manner using a variety of vivid colors.
