SEOUL, Jan. 14 (Korea Bizwire)Kakao Makers, an order-based production platform under Kakao Corp., the operator of South Korea’s top mobile messenger KakaoTalk, announced Wednesday a new eco-friendly project called ‘Prime People’ to promote plastic recycling.

Plastics are separated by their material and type before they are recycled, and small-sized plastics like bottle caps are often thrown away as non-recycled waste because they are difficult to separate from other trash.

In response, Kakao Makers joined hands with the Korea Federation for Environmental Movements’ Seoul Plastic Mill to begin a project that shreds small-sized plastics into base materials for new, recycled products.

Participants will be asked to collect plastic bottle caps for 40 days in a ‘Prime Recycle Kit’ sent by Kakao Makers. Once the kit is returned, the company will use the bottle caps to produce ‘contact-free key rings’ and deliver them to the participants.

The key rings are designed to be slipped into the fingers, allowing wearers to press buttons on elevators without physical contact.
