SEOUL, Jun. 19 (Korea Bizwire) — Kakao Mobility said Tuesday it will develop navigation and call guidance services exclusively for ambulances.
Kakao Corp.’s transportation unit will develop the service through participation in the “Artificial Intelligence-based Emergency Medical System Development” project supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency.
The ambulance-only navigation service provides route information not available to regular drivers, such as guiding an ambulance to take a left turn at the fire station’s main gate and directing it to places inaccessible to regular vehicles, in line with the driving characteristics of the ambulance.
The navigation system also analyzes the hospital’s big data, patient symptoms and severity, and the number of beds in the emergency room, to guide the ambulance to the optimal hospital.
Moreover, when transferring patients with spinal cord injuries and/or those suffering from cardiac arrest, it also has functions such as avoiding routes with high speed bumps.
The system will expand its function to inform drivers of emergency vehicle movement information and accident information to the regular car drivers.
“It is meaningful to incorporate advanced mobility technologies accumulated by Kakao Navi into the emergency medical field that is directly linked to the lives of patients,” said Jung Joo-hwan, CEO of Kakao Mobility.
He added that “Kakao Mobility will further consider the public interest and value that can contribute to society with the services and technology companies have.”
