SEOUL, Dec 22 (Korea Bizwire) – Korea Airport Corporation has completed on December 15 a project to paint the walls and control towers of its network airports in Gimpo (Seoul), Gimhae (Busan) and Jeju with new designs integrating the national flag. The control towers that underwent a makeover this time were four including two in Gimpo and one each in Gimhae and Jeju.
According to the airport corporation, the number of passengers passing through its 14 airports nationwide logged in 61.81 million as of the 19th, up 12.1 percent from the previous year’s 55.15 million. The number of Chinese tourists visiting Korea will likely break the 6 million level at the end of the year. The number of Chinese travelers passing through the gates of airports in Yangyang, Chungju, Daegu, and Mooan without a visa has increased 114 percent on average from last year.
The airport company expected that the new designs as well as the “Welcome to Korea” message on the towers will enhance its image to those incoming travelers. Kim Seok-ki, president of Korea Airport Corporation, said, “We at Korea Airport Corporation are working hard to promote our nation’s brand image. With the new Taeguk symbol-inspired designs, we hope to convey positive images of Korea to the airport passengers.”
