SEOUL, Jan. 24 (Korea Bizwire) — The Korea Fire Service has introduced new mobile fire squads that will be responsible for patrolling designated areas to prevent fires.
The squads will patrol vulnerable areas including local markets and populated areas at vulnerable times – from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. – to preemptively deal with possible fire accidents.
Each squad will deploy a small to medium fire truck to stay prepared for any kind of fire situation.
The squads will also be in charge of disposing of dangerous flammable materials, and monitoring illegal parking in delicate traffic zones to ensure access is maintained for fire trucks.
The fire department will test the squads in Seoul and other major cities until March to analyze performance and make improvements.
