SEOUL, March 10 (Korea Bizwire) — Three plants native to South Korea turned out to have the effect of suppressing the proliferation of the COVID-19 virus and A-type (H1N1) influenza virus.
As a result of a joint study conducted together with the Institut Pasteur Korea starting in 2021, the National Institute of Biological Resources identified that the extracts of Zoysia grass, Asiatic plantain, and lopseed with a density of 100 micrograms per milliliter can suppress the proliferation of the COVID-19 virus.
When extracted to have the same density, Asiatic plantain and lopseed also suppressed the proliferation of the Delta variant of the coronavirus by 90 and 83 percent, respectively.
In particular, Zoysia grass and lopseed with a density of 12.5 micrograms per milliliter prevented the proliferation of the H1N1 virus by 100 percent.
