SEOUL, Nov. 11 (Korea Bizwire) — KT Corp., a major South Korean mobile carrier, said Thursday it will make a US$2 million strategic investment in U.S.-based digital medicine company Sonde Health Inc.
Sonde Health has developed vocal biomarker technology that can analyze subtle signs of changes in the voice — the volume, pitch or difference in the movement of vocal cords — to observe body condition or to predict illnesses in a person.
The company has the largest database of health conditions that can be distinguished by changes in the voice, according to KT.
Based on Sonde Health’s technology, U.S. chipmaker Qualcomm provides a smartphone voice analysis function that can track a user’s health.
KT plans to upgrade its voice-based products and services, including artificial intelligence (AI) call centers and speakers, based on Sonde Health’s technology.
In addition, the wireless carrier plans to make use of voice biomarker technology in the remote medical service that it offers in Vietnam.
