SEOUL, Sep. 15 (Korea Bizwire) - Lee Jong-suk, a Korean actor who has starred in many hit dramas and films such as “School 2013,” “I can hear your voice,” and “The face,” has received a uniquely “green” birthday present on September 14 from his fans around the world.

His fan clubs from Korea, China, Taiwan and Hong Kong raised 14 million won, or about US$13,500, to create a special forest “Lee Jong-suk Forest” after the actor’s name. The forest, intended to mitigate the noise pollution in the city and provide citizens with a place for relaxation, will be nestled in Mapo-gu, northern Seoul.

“It is a meaningful gift for both Lee Jong-suk and his fans as well as Seoul citizens. I’m happy to participate in this worthwhile project,” one of his fans said.

The forest-named-after-star project planned by his fan clubs and operated by Tree Planet, a venture company, is part of a policy to create a public forest supported by the Seoul Metropolitan city government. The enterprise has already helped make forests named after various celebrities such as 2NE1, Shinhwa, Roy Kim, TVXQ, Infinite, Lee Hyo-ri and Shinee.
