SEOUL, Jan.5 (Korea Bizwire) – Bongeunsa Temple has announced that it will be prolonging its closing hours from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m., allowing guests to visit the temple late at night.
At the temple, located in Gangnam-gu, lights have been installed on buildings and doors so that visitors can take walks around the grounds or pray late at night.
Daeungjeon Hall (main temple) will also be open until midnight, and Panjeon (a room that stores the signboards of temples), which was previously only open from 8:30 a.m. to noon, will now be open to the public until 2 p.m.
Temple officials plan to hold special prayer sessions at each temple building, and build a center where traditional culture can be experienced.
Officials also commented that they decided to prolong the temple’s opening hours for residents of the area as well as tourists. “We plan to be a temple full of cultural content and tradition, not to mention religious artifacts and elements of Buddhism.”
