SEOUL, Sep. 10 (Korea Bizwire) – South Korea’s National Emergency Management Agency unveiled its much-awaited official mascot for the national civil defense program. The agency held an open contest to select the best design for the mascot. Given that the civil defense program usually takes on ‘stiff and dull’ image among the public, the agency wanted the mascot to invoke a kind of image giving something approachable and likable — to be much closer to the public — and chose this one called ‘Minyi and Bangyi’ designed by Cho Hee-jae living in Busan, Korea.
