SEOUL, Jan. 30 (Korea Bizwire) — POSCO has been actively involved in the rehabilitation of people in Mozambique by teaching agricultural skills based on Saemaul Undong, or New Community Movement, which former President Park Chung-hee introduced in Korea in 1970s. Together with KOICA, it runs the Mozambique Saemaul Agricultural Training Center, which offers instruction in farming techniques to people in Manica, and supports their economic independence.
Trainees at the center learn advanced farming technology, such as farm management, growing crops, how to use agricultural machinery and poultry farming, and receiving guidance on how to grow as leaders in the community. As of 2014, the center graduated 65 trainees and this year 27 will finish the one-year course.
