SEOUL, Oct. 17 (Korea Bizwire) — An increasing number of people in their 20s and 30s are enjoying tea as their hobby, finding inner peace during the process of brewing tea while discovering new types of satisfaction.
On Instagram, there are more than 110,000 hashtags for “tea” in the Korean language and some 70,000 hashtags for “tea cafe.”
“There are different brewing methods for different varieties of tea. It almost feels like a game finding the right brewing method for each type of tea,” said Park In-soo, a 38-year-old tea enthusiast.
Many people in their 20s and 30s have recently been brewing tea in their own way, even if they don’t have the perfect knowledge or equipment for traditional tea making.
They alter the temperature or time needed to brew tea, and use only the teapot, a tea bowl and a teacup to enjoy it.
“The fact that the slow life of tea making is gaining popularity among those in their 20s and 30s reflects the anxiety and impatience common among them,” said Lim Myung-ho, a psychology professor at Dankook University.
