SEOUL, July 12 (Korea Bizwire) — Seoul police rescued an 80-year-old man who went missing after alluding to a possible suicide using drones for the first time in the city.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s drone search team rescued an 80-year-old man, who had collapsed near a local reed field near the southern part of Seoul’s Dongjak Bridge on June 22.
While undiscoverable from the surface, the location was tracked down by drones via aerial view.
The 80-year-old man was found approximately 24 hours after police received reports of his disappearance. He was discovered in the fields barely breathing, exposed to a risk of further danger.
The agency has been running the drone search team since June of last year. The team consists of two drone pilots and 50 employees with drone certifications.
