SEOUL, Aug. 9 (Korea Bizwire) — A number of art galleries have been staying open late for those who want to enjoy a so-called “mucation,” a portmanteau of the words ‘music’ and ‘vacation’.
Art museums, which typically maintain an indoor temperature in the low 20°C range due to the preservation and management of artwork, offer a welcome oasis of cooler temperatures for urbanites suffering from the sweltering summer heat.
The Daelim Museum in Seoul will remain open Monday, a usual day off, until the end of the month. Opening hours will also be extended to 8 p.m., an hour later than usual, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The Suwon Ipark Museum of Art in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province will open at night until 10 p.m. so that visitors can enjoy the latest exhibition.
The Seoul Museum of Art will hold a free outdoor performance “Conduct + Museum Night” at its main hall at 7 p.m. on April 14.
