SEOUL, May 30 (Korea Bizwire) — Demand for overseas travel is on the rise as the country’s nearly two-year-long mandatory quarantine for international travelers was lifted for fully vaccinated people.
Mode Tour reported a 230-percent increase in the number of overseas travel package reservations between May 13 and 26 compared to the previous two weeks (April 29 to May 12).
Sorted by destination, travel reservations to Thailand jumped by 360 percent, Vietnam by 350 percent, Singapore by 320 percent, Saipan by 250 percent and Guam by 110 percent.
Yellow Balloon Tour also saw reservations more than double between May 1 and 27 compared to the month of April for foreign travel in July and August.
Sorted by destination, travel reservations to Japan were up sevenfold, followed by Europe, Vietnam, Guam, Saipan and Thailand.
Very Good Tour reported a 25 percent jump in the number of overseas travel reservations between May 14 and 27 compared to May 1 to 13.
A travel package to Osaka, released last Wednesday, sold out only two hours after its release with 1,924 reservations, equivalent to a 600 percent increase in the number of travel reservations to Japan over the last five months.
