SEOUL, Jan.14 (Korea Bizwire)The sales of large-screen TVs soared in the domestic market in 2015.

According to Samsung Electronics, sales of 55-inch TVs increased more than 60 percent, and sales of TVs larger than 60 inches increased more than 70 percent compared to 2014.

The company’s 65-inch SUHD TV ranked first in sales, followed by its 60-inch SUHD TV.

One out of four TVs larger than 60 inches sold was a Samsung premium SUHD TV.

The growth in sales is predicted to jump even higher as individual taxes that were previously imposed on large TVs are eliminated this year.

Samsung Electronics is offering a discount during the month of January to customers who purchase the models which will see their taxes eliminated. As a result, the portion of sales of TVs larger than 60 inches among total TV sales exceeded 30 percent.

Market researcher HIS announced that in 2016, it is estimated that the average TV size in the international market will reach 40 inches.

In addition, the American magazine Consumer Reports recommended that given a two meter distance between a sofa and TV, the suitable size is 50 inches for a Full HDTV, and 75 inches for an UHD TV.
