SEOUL, Sept. 18 (Korea Bizwire)September 17 was confession day. It is not a day when everyone goes to church to confess their sins. It is a day for those who are single to confess their feelings to the person they have a crush on.

There are many days dedicated to couples, such as Valentines’ Day, White Day, Rose Day and Pepero Day. February 14 is Valentines’ Day, which is also celebrated in western culture, and is a day for those in love.

However, in Korea, it is a day when women present chocolates to a man they love. White Day, celebrated on March 14, is rather unfamiliar to those who are not Korean or Japanese. It is a day when men present candy to the women they love or reciprocate to the women they received chocolates from.

On Rose Day, celebrated on May 14, couples present each other with roses, because the popular flowers are the queen of May, and it is romantic to do so.

Pepero Day, celebrated on November 11, is also a day when couples present each other with Peperos, chocolate covered stick-shaped snacks. The date is set on November 11 because the long and thin snacks resemble the numbers 11.11.

But why September 17 for Confession day?

September 17 is 100 days before Christmas. If one succeeds in sharing their feelings with someone, and a couple starts going out on that day, they will be able to celebrate their 100-day anniversary on Christmas, which is another day considered romantic for couples.

Usually, couples in Korea think the 100th day since they started going out is a special anniversary. It is not known how and when this tradition started, but it seems like those wanting to merge two romantic days together came up with the special day, which creates an excuse for single people to tell another how they feel.
