HWACHEON, Dec.14 (Korea Bizwire) – Lamps shaped like trout will be lit on December 19, before the 2016 Trout Festival opens on January 9 next year.
The city of Hwacheon decorated an entire street near the festival site with the trout-shaped lanterns, and officials announced that they would be lighting them up at 6 p.m. on December 19.
A total of 27,000 lanterns that were made by residents over the past year will be lit at once to wish for the success of the Trout Festival.
The lighting of trout-shaped lanterns started in 2003, to create a festive vibe before the Trout Festival, and entertain visitors during night.
Hwacheon will also hang an LED mark that combines the symbols of the army and regular people with army divisions 7, 15, and 27.
Special performances will take place after lighting the lanterns.
